What We Do Matters
What happens at South Fort Meade matters – not just to the contractors and employees who work on site and those who transport and process the phosphate rock that is mined there – but also to every person who is a part of the agricultural food chain. From the farmers across America who need a reliable source of crop nutrients, to families sitting at their kitchen table who benefit from the abundant agricultural yields – we help make possible.
September 2023 Eastern Extension Update:
After years of hard work—and your steadfast support—we are excited to announce that Mosaic has secured final permits for South Fort Meade’s Eastern Extension.
The approval adds 4,000 operational acres, extends the life of the current mine, and secures phosphate jobs in Hardee County well into the future.
We couldn’t have done it without the many employees, community partners, friends and family who showed their support by attending commission meetings, emailing county commissioners, speaking out on social media, or volunteering at local events.
Approval ensures that the phosphate supply chain will remain strong, and that farmers will receive the essential ingredients they need to put food on everyone’s table. It also means that the employees, vendors, and families who rely on our industry locally will enjoy renewed stability.
